TECHNOGERMA enters partnership with the Hessen State Government

Wiesbaden / Darmstadt, 27. 01. 2012

Upon the invitation of the Hessen State Government the test facility specialist joins the network of “Electro Mobility“ in Hessen as a partner.

With the mobility region Frankfurt Rhein-Main, Hessen wants to become the show case of electro mobility. This is what the Governor of Hessen Volker Bouffier declared at a press conference on January 16, 2012 in Frankfurt (pict. right, "© E. Blatt" ). The State of Hessen takes part in a tender of the Federal Government for the show case region and is being supported by renowned partners. Next to the TECHNOGERMA GmbH, these are amongst others also the Adam Opel AG, Deutsche Lufthansa and the Fraport AG.

“Hessen in the industrial sense, is one of the strongest such locations in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Governor stated that as a transit location and center of logistics, mobility is one of the most important factors at this location”. Future orientation therefore means to align more traffic and the challenges of climate protection. “For this reason, electro mobility has a major meaning for the Government of Hessen, for without a paradigm shift in the area of mobility, a turnaround in the energy field will not be possible”, so Bouffier.

The program in the tender of the Federal Government has the aim to develop Germany into a leadership market and lead provider for electro mobility. In addition the Federal Government has the ambitious target to have one million electric powered cars travelling on German roads by 2020.

Bouffier sees the Mobility Region Frankfurt Rhein-Main well positioned and he is confident that it will become a show case region of the Federal Government. “We fulfill the pre-requirements in a dimension like hardly one other region. Hessen is one of the strongest industrial regions in the Federal Republic and renders the necessary industrial power for the implementation of projects“, Bouffier explained.

Voices of the Partners

Dr. Christoph Franz (pict. right), Chairman of Deutsche Lufthansa AG: “Sustainability and environmental consciousness are deeply anchored in our business processes. Over and above, Lufthansa has always been driving innovation – in the air and on the ground. Within the framework of our activities, promoting electro mobility is a significant new building block which will also advance the mobility region Frankfurt Rhein-Main“.

Thorsten Schröder (pict. left), General Manager TECHNOGERMA Systems GmbH: “With the help of our testing technology, powering concepts of the future are being explored and developed up to readiness for production. For many manufacturers, the subject of electric power is way on top on their list of priorities; this explains the paradigm shift in the propulsion technology. As one of the most important automotive regions of Germany – in southern Hessen alone, there are 23,000 people directly employed in car manufacturing and for its components – makes Hessen ideally equipped also to take a leadership role in the development of electro mobility.”

Prof. Dr. Holger Hanselka (pict. right), Manager of the Fraunhofer Institute Rigid Engineering and System Dependability LBF in Darmstadt: “Electro mobility does not only mean electric vehicles. Much more than this, rigidness in operation and systematic approach LBF in Darmstadt, beginning with the creation of energy via its distribution, charging it out, and storing it, right up to the electric car itself. This will be re-discovered in totally new mobility concepts and at the end of its life cycle, the materials which were used will be returned into the circle of recyclables. We at Fraunhofer, with our diversified expertise have taken on this subject. It all comes together in Darmstadt/Hessen. In addition we ascertain safety- and dependability concepts for mobility and in general and especially for electro mobility”.

Stefan Schulte (pict. left), Chairman of Fraport AG: „Frankfurt Airport is the commercial heart of the mobility State Hessen and in addition it is the most important air traffic cross in Germany with worldwide connections. With 56 Million passengers in 2011, this airport is the international meeting point in Germany and along with this the show case of Hessen for the world. Fraport AG supports the numerous activities of the Rhein-Main Region and with respect to the application of the State of Hessen to be the Federal German Show Case Region for electro mobility, while the reduction of CO2 is a significant aspect of our own strategy for sustainability”.
